Canon: Animorphs
Canon point: Anywhere for memes, although most likely to be mid/late war or post-war, towards the end of #54: The Beginning.
TL;DR: Just your average Californian teenager turned traumatised war criminal and leader of a guerilla rebellion trying to save the world against an alien invasion, and selling his metaphorical soul in the process. nbd.
Age: 16-18ish
Powers: Animal morphing for two hours at a time. There’s no limit on how any different sets of animal DNA he can acquire, but his most-used morphs are a Siberian tiger, a peregrine falcon, and a rhino.
Backtagging: Always yes! I can be actual glacial molasses sometimes, so I will backtag into forever.
Physical contact: He’s pretty physically demonstrative — claps to the shoulder for his friends, a comforting hug here and there, etc — but more and more, it’s pretty performative and to the purpose of wrangling his teammates.
Mental contact: He can project his voice via telepathy while in animal form. As for others reading his mind— I love it, and Jake would hate it.
Fighting/injury: Yep. He’s a child soldier; it’s an everyday part of life.
Genre interests: Soldier camaraderie and teammate feels, kids coping through awful circumstances above their paygrade, superpowers, writing with any other Animorphs out there, other YA protags or child soldiers or young X-Men, etc etc etc. More interested in gen for Jake than shipping (he’s a disaster), but would absolutely write opposite a Cassie for something complicated, or maybe Marco with a slow, slow-burn.
